Stock Markets.
Mr D. Crewe reports:— On Friday, the 28 tb, I held my ordinary stock sale at Hamua. Several small lines of stock came forward in excess of the advertised number. There was a limited attendance of the public. Most of the stock changed hands at the following prices : —Dairy cows, M 17s 6d to £5 ; 3-year bullocks, £4 10s. At the Pahiatua horse and produce sale on Saturday, the 28th, several horses were yarded in excess of the advertised number There was a large attendance of the public. Bidding for the draught horses was spirited throughout, and all sold under the hammer at prices ranging from £17 to £27 ; light hacks, £8 10s; young horses, 20a each; drays, £5 5s to £9 15s. Seed potatoes, 4s 9d to 6s per cwt ; bacon, 5d per lb. Bargains were obtained in odds and ends submitted. Messrs Freeman B. Jackson and Co.'s Wanganni stock report:— We had a large attendance at the St. Hill street sale to-day. The sale of Mr Baker's horses induced a number of those interested in racing stock to be present. The horses were in low condition, which militated greatly against their sale, thoueh they realised up to our expectations. Cattle were without change in value. Sheep were slightly lower, but firm, at the quotations. Pigs were at last sale rate?. Cattle— Empty cows, £2 18s ; yearlings 28s to 31s ; weaners, 15s to 17s. Sheep— Fat ewes, 9s 9d to 11s 2d ; wethers, 10s 8d ; hoggets, 7s 6d to Bs. Horses -Mr Baker's horses sold as follows :— Somnus, £150 ; Loch* nagar, £23; Rangatira, £21; Nina, £38; Wairnareka, £33 10s; colt by Somnus, dam Lady Artist, £90. The young stock brought from £5 10s to £9 10s. Pigs— Baconers, 31s 6d to 61s; porkers, 10s 6d to 14s 3d ; small pigs, 6s 3d to 9s.
