Feilding Cricket Club.
The annual general meeting of members of the Feildiug Cricket Club was held at the Feilding Hotel last evening. Mr A. G. Carty was veted to the chair. The minutes of the previous annual meeting were read and conlirmod. The annual report and balance sheet were read by the secretary, Mr W. Dickson, of which the following is a summary : — The report stated the thanks of the club and all cricketers who played on the Feilding ground was due to Mrs Lethbridge, Mrs Sorley and the other ladies who so kindly provided refreshments at the different matches played during last season. The advance of cricket in Feilding was very unsatisfactory. Notwithstanding the great advantage Feilding possesses over other clubs in the matter of a ground, cricketers appear indifferent to avail themselves of the opportunity of improving their cricket and practice was seldom indulged in. Too much praise cannot be given to Mr .Letbbridge for his continual generosity for use of ground which he keeps in order at considerable expense to himself, and it is a pity his efforts to further cricket in Feidilng are not more worthily appreciated. Feilding possesses a number of practical and experienced cricketers and notwithstanding that a man was put on to keep the pitch in good order few attended practice. The difficulty with the club was there were not enough town members, having to depend too much on country players, many of whom lived a great distance from town. It was hoped supporters of cricket would take a more vigorous interest in the game this year. The club played four matches last season, winning one aud losing three. Mr Smith won the batting average with fourteen runs and Mr Hunter won the bowling average with five runs per wicket. The financial position of the club was not in the healthy state it ought to be. It commenced the season with a debit of i' 6 10s and had now a deficit of ill 17s The receipts for the year were £21 12s, including i' 6 10s from subscriptions, and the expenditure was .£23 9s. Correspondence was received from C. A. J. Levett resigning bis position as a member of the club, and it was accepted with regret. A letter was received from Mr Cramp, of the Palmerston Cricket Club, suggesting the formation of one union between the clubs playing in the Oroua and Horowhenua Associations ; such union to have its headquarters in Palmerston, where all cup contests should be played. Resolved, That no action be taken with reference to Mr Crump's letter until after the meeting of tho Manawatu Association to be held at an early date. The following officers were elected : — President, Messrs F. Y. Lothbridge ; yice-presidents, Messrs C. Carr, J. J. Bagnall, W. A. Saudilands, W. A. L. Bailey, W. Diekeon, Rev. Innos Jones ; captain, Mr H. C, Stewart; secretary and treasurer, Mr A G. Carty. The I election of a committee was loft over until a meeting to be held on Tuesday I evening next. ' Besolved, on the motion of Mr Carty, seconded by Mr Cobbe, That an extraordinary general meeting bo held witbin ten days at which the attendance of all the towns people be requested by circulars and endeavours be made to infuse some life into cricket in Feilding. Besolved, That the subscriptions be as follows :— Active members, 7s 6d ; honorary members, ss; and 2s Gd foruiembera under 20 years. Mossrs Stewart aud Dickaon were elected delegates to tho Mauawatu Cricket Association. A vote of thanks was passed to the recent concert committee and last years officers. The mooting terminated with tho usual compliment to the chair.
