At a meeting of the management committee of the Wanganui Union it was decided to play Manawatu juniors on Wednesday, the Oth September, and Maaawatu seniors on Saturday, the 12th September, the former match to take place at Feilding, if possible, and the latter at Palmerston. (Per Press Association.) I\VKRCAR<iILL, All'.'USt 29. Tbe football match, Queensland v. Southland, was played this afternoon and was won by the latter by 23 points to H. Napier, August :>l. The match arranged for Saturday between the Wellington representatives aud Hawke's Bay had to be abandoned. The Te Anau, with the visitors aboard, did not arrive till five o'clock owinf,' to meeting with heavy weather while crossing the Bay of Plenty. Nelson College met Cbristchurch High School on Saturday, and after an exciting game, in which the visitors forwards proved themselves a good lot, Nelson won by 19 points to '6. The Otago team are much dissatisfied with the decision of tlie referee at Christchurch, and they claim that he should have ftiven a try in their favor. An appeal will be lodged with the New Zealand Union. The Wanganui v. Manawatu rep. football match will not be played tomorrow, having been postponed until the 12th hist.
