1.0. G.T. District Lodge Meeting.

(From a Correspondent.) Tne District 1.0. G.T. Lodge of Palmerston North held its usual quarterly meeting at Bongotea yesterday. There was a large attendance of delegates present and, also, a number of visitors. The following lodges were represented : — Rongotea, Sisters S. Broadbelt and V. C. Ransom ; Sandon, Bro. Walker, V.T., and and Sißter A. L. Anderson, P.C.T. ; Rangiwahia, Bro. A. Hickford, C.T. ; .4piti, Bro. H. W. Osborne, C.T., and Bro. Dick, D.C.T. ; Palmerston N., Bros. Groves, D.S., and Bill ; Levin, Bro. Silvester, D.T. The Lodge was opened by Bro. Cocker, C.C.T., at 11.30 a.m. Resolved, That each lodge form an electoral literature fund for the purpose of buying temperance literature to educate the electors on prohibition. Resolved, That this meeting urge on the present Government the necessity of passing the National Option Bill this session. That this meeting requests the Cabinet to announce their decision re setting up a royal commission to enquire into the police administration in New Zealand, failing this it be made a platform question at the next election. Mr Cocker referred to the slander case Fop ham v. Taylor and asked for subscriptions to assist Mr Taylor. The sum of £3 was raised in the room for the purpose. Resolved, That the Grand Lodge be requested to send their lecturer, Mr Walker, to the district at an early date. Resolved, That all lodges pledge themselves to support prohibition candidates at tho forthcoming election irrespective of parties. Owing to several officers being absent Bro. S. Knight acted as D. ; Bro. Walker, D.G. ; Bro. A. Hickford, D.C. Bro. S. Knight was installed as D.C. and Bro Dick as D.C.T. Resolved, That the next meeting be held at Cheltenham on November 18th. The Lodge closed at 5.30. Refreshments were provided for the visitors 'and the tables were presided over by Messrs Glover, W. McKay and Langley, Misses Riley (2), E. Mitchell, M. Hunt and S. Broadbelt. In the evening a social was held, Mr Dick presiding. The musical part of the programme was contributed to by Miss Riley, Mr V. C. Ransom, Miss Broadbelt, Mr Brunton; recitations were given by Messrs Grove, Osborne, Murphy, Alderson, A. Hickford, Miss Tucker. The usual votes of thanks terminated the gathering.
