Mr Matthew Henry reports of his Palmerston sale :— Sheep and cattle came forward in fair numbers. The cattle were chiefly weaners, yearlings, and young steers. For the young cattle the demand was good, their being no sign of any drop in prices for good quality. For sheep tbe bidding was somewhat easy, although values were in most cases in keeping with recent sales. A good clearance was affected at quota- ( tions. Cattle, 20 month steers, £3 ss; weaners and yearhngs, 31s; weaners, 17s 6d to 265; forward cows, M. Sheep, good Lincoln ewes in lamb, 10s 3d ; store ewes, 8s 9d ; mixed lambs, 6s 7d ; for- ; ward wethers, lis. ;
