Pollard Opera Company.

0 On Saturday evening the Pollard's Opera Company gave their second performance in the Assembly to a crowded bouse. The piece staged was Lecocq's opera "GirofleGirofla," and waa rery amusing, creating frequent outbursts of applause and laughter. Tlie title role was taken by Miss Mariou Mitchell, whose acting and singing was excep tionally good, and Mr W. Percy was ' very amusing as " Don Bolero." Mr E. Noble as " Mourzonk" had a very fierce appearance and acted bis part well. As " Aurora," Miss Metcalfe gave a good interpretation of the character, while Miss Florrie Maskell, " Paquito," proved herself a very clever girl. Mr Alf Stephens, as " Marasquin," sustained with credit to himself and the company one of the leading characters in the opera. The various solos and choruses all went with a happy swing, and the diplogues were very funny and created roars of laughter. The " star" of the company is unquestionably Miss Marion Mitchell, whoso beautiful soprano voice has to be heard to be appreciated besides, her acting is exceptionally free and natural. Between the second and third acts the song and dance " Sligo" was given by Mr W. Percy and Lillie Eiley O'Sullivan, a very young child. This item was very nicely rendered, tho little child performing her part elegantly for one so young and the song was loudly applauded, an encore demanded.
