The Interproviucial match, Southland against Canterbury, was played on Saturday at Christchurch Tlie weather was fine but the ground was rather soft. A good even game, principally confined to the forwards, resulted in a draw. In the first spell Anderson scored a try for Southland, and in the second O'Brien equalised matters by scoring for Canterbury. Neither try was improved on, and the game ended three points all. The football match, Thames v. Auck* land, played on Saturday, resulted in Auckland winning by 17 to 8 points. The Apiti team defeated Colyton, at Cheltenham, on Saturday last, thus winning the Oroua championship cup for the present year. During the football match, Apiti v. Colyton, at Cheltenham on Saturday, Mr E. Blake, one of the Colyton halfbacks, was very badly bitten by a dog. He battled through the remainder ofthe grame, playing full back. His leg was so badly torn that he had to be taken to Dr Maccarthy, who put in four stitches. It is a pity tbe owners of such savage brutes cannot leave them at home. It appears that footballers, these times, have chances enough of getting hurt during the game without spectators bringing dogs to worry them.
