(Per Press Association). Christchurch, July 22. The Conciliation Board resumed consideration of the dispute in the boot trade to-day, when the bearing of evidence and addresses were concluded. The Board then adjourned till Monday next. Heavy rain bas fallen all day. Auckland, July 22. B. Clougb, postmaster at Te Aroha, was fired at by his assistant, Archie McKee, a messenger, who suddenly developed symptoms of insanity. He enticed Clough to the river bank, saying a man bad a fit there. He then fired two shots at him with a Martini-Henry rifle, but both missed. They were so close that Clough felt the concussion of air as the bullets passed his face. McKee bas been arrested and two doctors are attending him. Laet night the premises of Watkinson tailor, were broken into and goods to the value of L2O were taken. The villa of Isadora Alexander, jeweller, was also entered, and his gold watch taken and money from bis trousers pocket in his bedroom.
