Slattery realised £3200 by the sale of forged scrip. With the exception of a small amount, this has been recovered. Perth, July 22. The Orange Grove arrived safely at her destinction. The wreckage seen off Capo Leuwin has not been identified. Brisbane, July 22. At the meeting of the Queensland National Bank the report was adopted. The net profit for the half year was £10,021, making with a balance from last half £16,976, the whole of which was carried forward. Sydney, July 22. Sailed — Anglian. This Day. Letters from England show that Marquardt, a survivor from the Drummond Castle, was not the violinist who visited the colonies some time back. The half yearly report of the Bank of Victoria showed a profit of £15,000 which, with last half-year's balance, makes £41,829. A dividend of 5 per cent on the preference shares absorbs £10,000. The rest was carried forward. The directors contemplate realising at an early date £375,000 of deposits not due until 1898.
