At a meeting of dairymen last evening resolutions were carried that the proposals made by the City Council in regard to the inspection of dairies and dairy cattle wero calculated to unnecessarily harass and annoy owners. The proper course would be to place the inspection in tbe hands of the respective local Boards of Health. In the event of the City Council proceeding with its proposal it was resolved to petition the Governor in Council not to accede thereto. Auckland, July 29. At the July meeting of the Auckland Coursing Club, the Bracelet Stakes were won by Sintoti's Lady Maud, Puppy Stakes by Taylor's Keller, Supplemen tary Stakes by Baker's Dora B. Nothing has been discovered as to the cause of young Cranwell's blowing his head off with dynamite. He had been working for two years for the Mount Eden Highway Board, bat did not go to work that morning, bat went for a short walk. He came back to dinner, and that aftereoon committed the deed apparently in bis usual health and state. Hubert, a resident of Ho wick, was found dead on the highway. Death is supposed to be due to heart disease. The mast and sail of a small boat has been found at the sandspit, Maraetas. It is supposed the boat capsized but none as yet are reported missing. Roland Todd, who attempted suicide, was charged with tbe act but the case was adjourned till Tuesday. Tbe defendant asked for bail but was refused. The local branch of the Irish Federation League sent Home .£27 to John Dillon for the Irish Parliamentary fund. Nelson, Jnly 29. The second annual meeting of the Nelson School of Music was held tonight, when tbe report and balancesheet disclosed satisfactory progress. Wellington, This Day. Mr Pharazyn was buried this morning. There was a large cortege. The de ceased, in the Legislative Council, always opposed to Anti Chinese measures, and as a mark of respect a number of Chinese followed the remains to the grave. Dunedin, July 20. Josiah Darlington, licensee of the Carriers' Arms Hotel, Ada Valley, was found dead in his bed on Saturday morning. Ths wife of the deceased was found dead in similai: circumstances a short time ago. At the annual meeting of the Dunedin Gold Dredging Company the report stated that the river had kept high during the year, interfering with operations. Gold to the value of L2,9dl had been got, of which L 435 had been paid in dividends, £1062 as wages. At a meeting of shareholders of tbe Transvaal Special Claim, Reefton, it was decided to place tbe property under offer to Mills, at present in London. The terms are that the present shareholders receive £'1500 cash and a coneiderable namber of paid up shares in tbe new company. The offer is open for four months.
