JUNE WEATHER, 1896.

TO THE EDITOR. Sir, — The rainfall tor the past month was 2 99 inches, as against 2. 95 inches for June last year. The total rainfall for the past six months of tho present year was 17.67 inches The annual average of the Feilding rainfall since 1892 is between 36 and 37 inches. Rain was registered on 18 tlays during the present month, the heaviest fall on one day being 1.04 inches on the 26th. There were 9 frosty nights during the first 14 days of the month, and one on the 22nd. The maximum temperature was 56 degrees, and the minimum 26. The mean temperature of the month at 9.30 a.m. was 44.73 degrees, the oean maximum 52 43 degrees, and the mean minimum 37.23 degrees. — I am, &c, Samuel Goodbehere. Feilding, July 1, 1896. P,B. — By an error in addition the rainfall for May was stated to be 2.11 inches, instead of 3.11 inches. A DEAD DONKEY. TO THE EDITOR OF THE STAR. Sir, — I am surprised that you have not reported the death of the only donkey in Feilding (belonging to Golding, the chimney sweep), who, l understand, died on Sunday last, at the advnnccd age of 40 years. It would have been interesting to have had the animal stuffed and exhibited, but 1 fear it is too late now as I hear that his (or her) obsequies have already taken place and I only heard of oui sad bereavement this morning.
