Deputation to the Premier.

(Per Press Association) Wellington, This Day. In reply to the Municipal Conference deputation, which waited on him to-day, Mr Seddon expressed an opinion that the local authorities should have special powers to pass bye*laws dealing with the Chinese question, and should have power to insist on the isolation of contagious diseases which should be reported by medical men to the Board of Health. It was impossible to drop the Local Government Bill, which he hoped to see perfected this session, and then sent to the people. Government was determined the existing system of representation should be altered.
