o [from our own correspondent.] i A petition was sent from settlers here I some little time ago to the PostmasterGeneral, praying for the opening of a branch Post Office Savings Bank and Money Order Office. The following reply has been received : — (> To Messrs E. Nix, B. A. Miller, and others signing tho petition', " Gentlemen, —In reply to your petition of 20th April last, I am directed to inform you that a Money Order and Savings Bank Office is about to be opened at Apiti as desired. "J.H.Stevens. 11 I need not tell you that we are all deeply grateful to Mr Stevens, tha Postmaster at Feilding, and to Mr F. Pirani, M.H.R., for the assistance they have given in obtaining for the residents this great convenience.
