Married on Her Death-Bed.
o ■ The circumstances of the death of Mr 9 Corlet, announced in this morning's issue are of pathetic interett. Mrs Corlet [nee Miss Charlotte Short) was married on ber death-bod. She has been suffering for a long period from consumption, and her case becoming very grave, Mr John Corlet, to whom she had been engaged to be married for two years, was summoned from Canterbury. The young lady, who knew the hopeless character of her illness, expressed a wi>>b that they might b« married, and the ceremony was accordingly performed on the 29th April by tbe Rev. Joshua Jones, of the Lower Hutt, tha invalid propped up in bed giving tbe responses of the marriage service in a clear voice, though dying at the time. She gradually sank and died on Monday afternoon. She was only 27 years of age and her untimely death under such pathetic circumstances will be widely regretted.-— Times.
