THE MATCH AGAINST AN ENGLISH ELEVEN.
(Per Press Associaiton'i. London Jnue 9. The Englishmen could do nothing in their second innings against the bowling of tho Australians, and were all disposed of for 37 runs. The Australians thus won by 135 runs. The attendance e.t the match to day was small. The weather was again fine, but the wicket still heavy. Other scores on the Australian side were Giffen 11, Kelly 21. Spofforth again made a good analysis, 5 for 51. R^wlin took 3 for 11, Pickett 1 for 25, and Phillips 1 for 3. In the Englishmen's second innings Nepean 12, was the only double figure. Trumble j took 3 wickets for 16, and Trott 4 for 18. Kelly batted steadily for his runs. Gregory, whose wicket was last to fall, j played admirably on an unfavorable | pitch, being in for two hours. Spofforth bowled Hill and Iredale with successive balls. The batting of the Englishmen at the second attempt was of tbe feeblest description, the innings only lasting one hour. The fielding of the Australians was excellent, three of the Englishmen being run out.
