The Missing Detective Kirby.
A SUSPICIOUS FIND. (Per Press Association.) Sydney, June 2. The police closely watched the discharge of the Talune's cargo today, in the event of Kirby having stowed away in the hold. There was a suspicious looking case loosely closed, which attracted attention. On being opened, it was found to coutain a quantity of biscuits, two loaves of bread, two empty bottles, which had apparently been filled with water, and some clothes. On closer search being made, a bank draft, in favor of Kirby, was found, also an envelope containing the address of a friend of his, resident in Sydney, on whom it is stated he intended to call, together with a message to his friend. The police are exercised as to whether this find is a ruse or not. This Day. The police hold the opinion that Kirby did not come to Sydney by the Talune.
