TO THE EDITOR OF THB STAB. Sir,— The rainfall for the past; month was 2*ll inches as against 1*97 t in May, 1895. Bain was registered on 17 days during the month, the heaviest fall in one day being \ inch registered on the 15th. There were 7 frosty night.. The maximum temperature was 68 degrees on the 6th, andL the minimum 28 degrees during the ; nights of the 15th and 20th. The mean temperature at 9.30 a.m. was * 48*57, the mean maximum temperature 56*87, and mean minimum '41*16. The similar means for May, 1895, were at 9*30 a.m. 47*58, maximum 57*61, and minimum 39*19.
