LEADING REFORMERS SENTENCED TO 15 YEARS. (Per Press Association.'* Capetown, May 19. In the Legislative Assembly Mr James Xavier Merriman, a member of the Executive not in the Cabinet, admitted receiving a telegram from the Chief Justice of tne Transvaal to tbe effect that unless the charter of the South Africa Chartered Company was abrogated and Cecil Rhodes punished, there would be a lasting breach between the Transvaal and Cape Colony. May 20. The sentences of the four leaders of the Johannesberg revolt hare been committed to 15 years' imprisonment, bnt it is hoped this will be further modified. The Times denounces the punishment as vigorous and excessive. The refusal to accede to tbe Reformers' petition for clemency must delay the other remissions. London, May 19. One million rounds of ammunition have been shipped from Southampton to Pretoria.
