ANOTHER DECISIVE VICTORY for the AUSTRALIANS, GREGORY MAKES 154. (Per Press Association.) London, May 19. There was splendid weather for the cricket match to-day, and there was a large attendance of the public. The wicket played very well. The Australians continued their first innings, which closed for 379, the chief additional scores being : Iredale, c Hilliard, b Mould ... 21 Gregory, b Pougher 154 Hill, c Smith b Mould 51 j Trumble, c Trafford b Pougher ... 40 Pougher took five wickets for 100, and Rawlin two for 27. With 265 to the bad on the first innings, the English eleven began their second essay, but a rot set in, the whole I team being disposed of for the wretchi edly small score of 39, of which Ward (not out) made 14, and Mould (bowled by Giffen) 8. The Australians thus won by an innings and 226 runs. Giffen was in excellent form, and took seven wickets for 15 runs, and Jones took three for 20. Iredale, who played|3teadily, lost his wicket when the score stood at 150. Gregory and Hill formed a brilliant partnership, and added 113 runs iv 75 minutes without giving a chance. Trumble showed vigorous batting. Gregory was at the wickets 3 hours and a quarter, and gave two possible chances. His score included 21 fours. The bowling of Giffen and Jones created panic among the English, and disposed of the whole eleven in 70 minutes with 20 overs. Six of the best batsmen were out for 13, Giffen securing 4 of them, his pace being very deceptive. The wicket was dry and firm.
