District Hospital Board.

The usual monthly meeting of the. above was held yesterday, at Palmerston. Present — Messrs W. Park (chairman), Kavenhill, Harris, Kendall, Ransome, Goodhehere, Lethbridge, Taylor, Bootb, aud Hammond. Correspondence was read and dealt with as follows : — From Kiwitea County Council, totwarding levy of £154 -17s 6d, and Foxton Borough Council, forwarding £28 9s, their amount. A discussion took place on the recent deaths from tyyhoid in the hospital. In reply to a question, the Secretary said there had only been two deaths in the hospital from typhoid fever since it opened. One occurred in 1894 and the other during the present month. It was resolved to request the Board of Health for the district to warn workers in swamps of the danger of drinking the water. It was decided to appoint Miss Mai* cock (Cbristcburcb) to the nursing staff, and Miss Thompson (Feilding) as probationer without salary. — Standard.
