The Voluntary Schools Bill passed its second reading by a majority of 267, including 57 Irish members. Ib is reported Russia has obtained a coucession of foreshore rights at Chefoo, in China, which will interfere with British traders. The Government are making enquiries as to the extent of the concession. The Rev Mr Berry has been elected chairman of the Congregational Union. Mr H. Trott and Dr W. G. Grace dined at the Royal table yesterday. The personalty of Prince Henry of Battenburg is sworn at £20,000. Paris, May 13. The Figaro states that the dispute between Italy and Abyssinia has been brought to a peaceful end through the influence of Russia. St. Peteesburg, Ma}' 13. The Czar launched two powerful warships on the Neva. One is larger than the Ruric. A third, which is a duplicate of the Terrible, is being built. Bkelin, May 13. The murder of Madame Heny in Brussels led to the capture of a band of criminals commanded by Courtois, an ex-polico inspector. They are suspected of many murders and robberies, including the f robbery of the Countess of Flanders' jewels.
