The Matabele Rising.
(Per Press Association) Capetown, April 24. The telegraph wirea have been cut twenty miles South of Buluwayo. , A sortie from Buluwayo drove the Matabele across the Umgusui River. Selous had his horse killed under him. Several whites were wounded. The column from Mnfeking to Buluwayo is marching twenty five miles a day, and ifc is expected will reach Macloutssie on 13th May. A number of spies discovered in Buluwayo have been tifcnged. .Rinderpest is spreading in the Northern Transvaal and Bechuanaland. Ehama has lost all his cattle. The people of Gwelo who are threatened by the rebels have abtained several loads of grain. Corporal Wise was wounded in the sortie at Umguzu, but escaped. Trooper Baxter, while in tihe act of handing him his horse, was assegaid. Melbourne, April 23. The proposal to send a contingent to South Africa was received coldly by the authorities. The Treasurer states there is no money available, and further England does not require help.
