Advances to Settlers' Board.
Wellington, This Da.y At a meeting of the Advances to Settlers Board 1 yesterday, presided over by the Hon. Mr Walker, 84 loans were granted amounting to £21,670. It has been ascertained of the loans authorised by the Board, representing £772,422, a sum of £517,522 was applied for by the applicants for the purpose of redeeming existing mortgages. Of loaus accepted from the Advances to Settlers' Office, nine have been paid off amounting to £1925. Tlie advances to settlers already paid off are ten, aggregating £2176, and of £772,422 of advances sanctioned the applicants have declined £181,820. The amount actually advanced in cash is £458,442.
