Captain Russell at Auckland.
(Per Press Association.) Auckland, April 16. Capt. Bussp.ll, M.H R. for Hawke's Bay, addressed a public meeting in the City Hall this evening. Mayor Hoi laud presided. There was o, jarge at tendance. Aiaong those on the platform were the Hon. K. Mitchelson, C. E. Button, W. Crowther, W. R Massey, and F. Lawry, M.H.R.'s Captain Russell, in addressing the meeting, was received with cheers. The subjects dwelt on. were the changes in the personel of the Ministry, unsatisfactory condition of the colony, Christchurch election, the working of Advances to Settlers' Act, hind settlement, railway adininist ration, and colonial defences Captain Russell received an excellent hearing, the only interruptions being from three or four mem hers of the Liberal Association, who kept up a running fire of interruptions til the Chairman interposed. A number of questions w<-re asked. At the close of the address Mr Hugh Campbell moved, and Mr Arthur Heather seconded, a hearty vote of thanks to Captain Russell for his able address, which was carried by acclamation.
