The Stock Market.
Mr Matthew Henry reports of his Palmerston sale on Thursday : — The yards were well occupied with sheep, cattle being limited in numbers, fat stock only commanding attention. At auction the tone of the Bheep market showed little signs of improvement, the lines forward, however, being of medium and mixed quality. On Wednesday a clearing sale of dairy stock 1 was held at Mr Lancaster's homestead, when tbe whole of tbe cows annd heifers > averaged close on L 5, the highest being JJJ. Subjoined are quotations : — Cattle Fat bullocks, L 5 lOs ; fat cows, L4 ; 3year steers, L 4 1,0s ; 18-months steers and 1 heifers, 36s 6d j weaners, 15s. Sheep 2-tooth wethers, 6s 6d ; 2 and 4-tooth, 7s, 1 and 0s 7d to 6s Td j lambs, 2s 8d j cull ■ ewes, gs 4d. Pigs 2s 6d to 7s.
