Banquet at Colyton.

In view of his departure en route to Sweden, on Saturday next, Mr J. Nilsson was entertained last evening at a smoke concert in the Colyton Hotel by the members of the Colyton Cricket Club, of which Mr Nilsson is president, and the settlers of Colyton, as a mark of appreciation for the support he has rendered to the Clnb by bis kindness in allowing the use of his meadow for a cricket ground and other ways in which he has assisted to promote the interests of the game. There was a very good attendance and Mr O. Pltasants occupied the chair. The following toasts were duly honored: — " The Queen," "Our i guest, Mr Nilsson," " Mrs Nilsson," " The i Colyton Cricket Club," " Absent Cricket Clubs," " Those who presented trophies to the Club," " The barrackers," " The i Captain, Mr J. Entwisle," " Early Colyton settlers," " The ladies," " Press," " The chairman," " Our host and hostess." During the evening the chairman, on behalf of members of the Cricket Club, handed to Mr Nilsson, for Mrs Nilsson, a handsome album as a token of the respect in which she is held by the cricketers and settlers. A number of songs were given during the evening, which was brought to a close by all singing " Auld Lang Syne." Mr Nilsson ex* ; pects to return to Colyton in about six or seven months.
