Fire Brigade Conference.

(Per Press Association ) Christchurch, March 10. At the Fire Brigade Conference today, a motion that in order to lessen expense a fire brigade encampment be held at the demonstration was lost by a large majority. It was resolved that it is desirable that a distinctive badge be adopted for. officers of the brigades. It was decided to recommend the Demonstration Committee to use Mr Hardwood's (Wanganui) electric timing apparatus at the demonstration in confunction with timekeepers. The elec tion of officers resulted as follows:— President, C. E. Bellringer, New Plymouth; vice-presidents, D. .Leech, Port Chalmers, and A. Martin, (Gore) ; secretary and treasurer, J- G. Gilberd, Napier ; auditor, F. W. Garner, Napier. Captain Leech, Port Chalmers, invited the Association to hold the next conference at Port Chalmers. An invitation was given by Secretary ftobson, Geralain<stohold the next conference at Geraldine It was decided 011 a ballot by 42 to 10 to meet at Port Chalmers in 1897. _ __.
