Good Water.

Among the multitude of inventions which are offered to the public day by day there are some that at once commend themselves to the judgment at i first sight, and fill off hand a long felt I want. The Eureka Charcoal Filter is surely one such invention as above mentioned. It has the accumulated advantage of being thoroughly efficient, cheap, portable and compact in its service. This very ingenious and effective improvement in filters* will be gladly welcomed by all householders, but it must commend itself at once more especially to those who reside in the country and who are necessarily more dependant upon tank water than wells. All holders of tanks at one time or another when they have been brought face to face with an amount of filth in their tanks, too hideous and repulsive to dwell upon, and the accumulated result of mouths of decomposing animal and vegetable matter, have wished for a means whereby this deplorable state of things could be remedied. The Eureka Charcoal Filter is admirably adapted for such purpose, working quietly, yet efficiently at the bottom of your tank, it filters the water only just at the right moment when wanted. The water being constantly in contact with the carbon of the filter, is thoroughly deprived, not only of all sediment, but all decomposing matter held in solution is at once deodorized by the mechanical antiseptic properties of the carbon, or common charcoal. This handy and absolutely indispensable device is being made bj' Mr Peter Thompson, and we believe the agents have made arrangements with a well-known Wellington firm for the systematic canvass of every householder, beginning with the North Island. We wish it every success.
