Feilding Library Committee.
The monthly meeting of the above was held in the Library last evening. Present — Messrs Stevens (chairman), Andrew, Fowles, Allan, Judkins, Watson, and Greenwood. The Librarian reported 235 books issued during the month, and 70 subscribers during the month, including sin the boys' section. There was an increase of 25 new members for the month. It was resolved that the books be arranged uuder their proper headings, viz., Fiction, Science, Philosophy, Poetry. Reference, etc t and that in each heading the books be arranged alphabetically in order of authors. The Chairman was authorised to get a sufficient number of renewal notices printed. It was resolved to procure a suitable sign-board for erection at Library entrance, to direct strangers. t Mr A. R. Allan, the treasurer, tendered bis resignation as he would be leaving in the course of a few days for the Old Country. In doing so, he congratulated the Libraay on its present healthy condition and assured prospects ; he would not be absent more than a year, and hoped to be with them again. Members expressed their regret at losing the valuable services of so capable a treasurer, and at the same time wished Mr Allan a pleasant trip and safe return. Mr Judkins was unanimously elected to the vacancy thus caused, and it was resolved to recommend Mr W. G. Haybittle to the Council to replace Mr Allan. It was decided to sell all old books and cases by auction. The Chairman and Messrs Greenwood and Watson, were appointed a committee to purchase £10 worth of books. The Committee then adjourned.
