'Frisco Mail Items.

(Per Mail Steamer.) Auckland, February 28General Booth has ordered his son Ballington Booth back to England from America, but there is such a .mm pus about it that it is probable the order will be rescinded. Ballington Booth and his wife have taken advantage of their American naturalisation, and this, among other things, has displeased the Old General. He dislikes America and the Americans, and thinks his order in Uncle Sam's country is losing that distinctly English character he desires to retain for it. One move is to officer the American branch with Englishmen. Despatches from St John's, January 28th, says the abject misery of the people on the Island of Newfoundland cannot be expressed. Hundreds arc starving, and without fuel, while tremendous snowstorms are raging. The authorities appear to be powerless to afford relief.
