A supplementary petition to the Governor, praying for the removal of five members of the Wellington Licensing Committee who granted a transfer of the Waverley Hotel licensee to Newtown, were forwarded to the Premier, bringing the total number of petitioners up fo 4102. The half-yearly meeting of the Bank of New Zealand will be held to-inorrrow Owing to the accident to Mr Watson, president, he will be unable to be present. At the University Senate Sir R. Stout intends to again move in the direction of securing endowments from Government for the middle district of the New Zealand University College. This Day. An inquest will be held to-morrow on a young woman named Amelia Agnes Hutchison, aged 21, who died suddenly yesterday under peculiar circumstances. Dunedin, February 26. The Supreme Court was occupied for two days in the case in which a laborer named Robert Hutton sued John Mill, stevedore, Port Chalmers, for £'501 damages for injuries through an accident on defendant's hulk. The jury gave a verdict for .£2OO. Manaia, Feb. 26. Palmer and Company's timber mills have been completely destroyed by fire. The loss is about £800, totally uncovered by insurance.
