Ram Fair at Palmerston.
The annual ram fair was commenced on the A. aud P. Association's grounds yesterday. The catalogue contains an entry list of 1439 rams, as against 1144 last year, and 1024 in 1893. Yesterday Lincoln sheep onty were offered, and generally they were a yery good lot, the quality being superior to that of last year. There was a good attendance of buyers, and bidding was fairly brisk throughout, though prices tlid not show any improvement. Owing to the indisposition of Mr F, L. Jackson, Mr F. R. Jackson, of Wanganui, acted as auctioneer for Messrs Abraham and Williams, and succeeded in getting through the various lots in his usual expeditious style. Mr M. Henry was the other auctioneer, and made satisfactory sales of the entries be had to dispose of. The arrangements were, as usual, all that could be desired- The following prices were realised : — On account of J. Collins, 25 2-tooth rams — 15 sold at lg to l|gs ; on account of A. McHardy, 100 2-tooth rams— 72 sold at from lg to 3± gs ; on account of estate of Mrs Watt, 30 2-tooth rams— 27 sold at from 2|gs to 6Jgs ; on account of R. O. E. Carey, 20 2-tooth rams — passed iv ; on account of Jas. Holmes, 20 2 tooth rams— all sold at from 2}gs to s^gs ; on account of W. Chapman, 50 2-tooth rams — 30 sold at from lg to Sj-gs ; ou account of R. Bremer, 40 2-tooth rams — 28 sold at from l.Vgto 3}gs; on account of T. Knight, 30 2-tooth rams — passed in ; ou account of C. Wilson, 3 2-tooth rams— one sold at 5f gs and the other two at lg each ; on account of W. Wilson, 53 2-tooth rams— 4s sold at from 2gs to 4 jgs ; on account of W. Morrison, 40 2-tooth rams — all sold at from lg to 2£gs ; on account of R. B. Pearce, 20 2-tooth rams— 2 sold at lg each ; on account of W. Pearce, 50 2-tooth jams— lo sold at l£gs and H gs each ; oh account of 4- S. Baker, 40 2-tooth rams— 2B sold at from l£gs to 3£ gs ; on account of Randolph and Walker, 11 2-tooth rams— all sold at from 2£gs to 3^gs ; on account of P. C. Threlkeld, 10 stud yearlings — passed in ; on account of T. Tanner, 20 2-tooth rams— l sold at lg. The Fair will be continued to-day when Romney Marsh and other breeds will be 'offered.— Standard.
