', (Per Press Association.) Wellington, February 13. At the Presbyterian Assembly to-nighl the Rev B. Todd moved, and the Rev J Patersou seconded, a motion conveyiuj to the Rev D. Sidey, Clerk of the Assembly, congratulations of the Assembly upon the honor conferred on him by the degree of D.D. from the Edinburgh University. The Rev Dutton and Rev A. Cameron deputies from the Synod of Otago and Southland, addressed the Assembly and received a very kiudly welcome. The Rev Gordon Webster, M.A., gave in a report of the Union Committee ■ Satisfaction was expressed on the steady progress being made towards the Union between the churches. The report of the committee on educatiou was received. The Rev G. Webster moved the adoption of the report. He supported the proposal to introduce the Irish text book to the scripture lessons into our public schools. The Re\ Jas. Paterson seconded the motion.
