(Per Press Association). Melbourne, Jan. 28. At the Natives' Association Cycling Carnival, the International Mile race (scratch) resulted as follows : —

Won on the post. At the half distance Porta made a splendid spurt, and amidst great excitement won by a few inches. Time, 2min 44 l-ssec. Five Mile Championship of Australia. Martin 1 Lewis 2 Porta 3 After a struggle for places Martin hanging to the tandem and going at a terrific pace, never gave the others a chance. Won easily by a lap. Time, llmin 30 l-ssec, the record for Australia. The quarter mile took 32sec, the mile 2min 17sec, two miles 4min 31 3-ssec, four miles 9min 11 3-ssec. .Lewis protested that in the struggle for places behind the tandem, Martin unfairly interfered with him. The protest was upheld and the race awarded to Lewis, Porfca second. Parsons started, but dropped out at the end of a mile. Dunedin, Jan. 28. McKenzio succeeded yesterday in further lowering the Invercargill cycling record to 9hrs 54£min.
