Wellington's Anniversary.

(Per Press Association.) Wellington, Jaa. 22. The strong north westerly wind, which blew all day interfered considerably with the enjoyment of the holiday which was observed to celebrate the fifty sixth anniversary of the Wellington Province. The principal attraction in town was the annual regatta of Port Nicholson Yacht Oub, but the fixture did not create so much interest as usual owing to the fact that the competitors did not include any boats from other ports. A heavy sea was running in the Harbour, which tjave the 3maller craft a rough time of it. The Waifcanga won the first class yacht race by fifty-five minutes, the Maritana being second. The Isca carried off the second class event, with Rona second, and Jennie Reid had an easy win in the third class race. A large number of excursionists travelled by rail and the harbour steamers.
