Fighting in Formosa.

(Per Press Association.) Sydney, Jan. 13. Formosa continues in a very disturbed state, tbe Japanese finding great difficulty in subduing the insurgents. A small band of Japanese soldiers, which was recently ordered to Faibyo to suppress the mobs, was attacked by a thousand natives. After considerable fighting the insurgents were dispersed. Six of the rebels and one Japanese soldier were killed. Another detachment, which was detailed to subdue rioting along tbe Tsin Sin river, encountered stubborn resistance. Between two and three hundred insurgents were killed, while the losses on the Japanese side were only slight, though a large number were wounded. On the same day a reconnoitring party was attacked by natives, fifty of the latter and three Japanese being killed.
