. o The ordinary monthly meeting of the j above council was held in the Council Chambers, Sanson, on Wednesday, Bth January at 11 a.m. Present : — Crs Ransom (Chairman) Hammond, Masters, Taylor, Robinson, Strang aud Wilson. The minutes of tbe previous meeting were read and confirmed. ' Inward and outward correspondence was read and dealt with. The following resolutions were passed. That the name of Edward Alexander Buchanan be substituted on the valuation roll for that of John Nicholas, for Section 5, Campbelltown and also Henry Sanson'Junr. Emily Florance Sanson, Harriet Sanson and John Sanson for part of section late Oroua Downs Estate near Campbelltown. That the following slaughter house licenses be renewed : — Messrs Rutherford and Sons, Feilding, and Messrs Walsh and Howan, Foxton. That any person may cut grass seed on the County road, by applying to Mr Cox, County Clerk, for a permit. That the balance of the loan money for the protection works on the Oroua River be paid over to Mr Charles Bull, Feilding, to meet in full all liabilities in connection with planting the same protection works with willows. That this Council cannot grant the request of Mr Hinks, County ranger, to allow cattle to run on any ofthe County roads under any consideration. That the Tram Manager be instructed to carry out the recommendations made by Mr Bray in his report ou the Sandon Caruarvan Tram Line. That tenders be called for collecting ] the dog tax for 1896, the registration fee to be fixed at 2s 6d per head, tenders to be in by noon of next ordinary meeting of the Council. That a special meeting be held on the 19th of January to make special order to strike a special rate of 1-12 of a penny in the £ on all the rateable property in the riding of Waitohi in the Manawatu County, to provide interest sinking fund on a loan of £650 for the purpose of metalling Rowe's line and portion of Hammond's Line. Tbat the next ordinary meeting of the Council be held on the 19th February at 11 a.m. That tenders be called for metal required on the different roads as suggested by the overseer. That the report of the committee appointed to meet a deputation from the Rangitikei Council in reference to construction of a bridge at Bnlls, be received and approved of. That on account of the largely increasing overdraft, the clerk be instructed to sue all ratepayers who on the 20th of January have not paid their rates, and to charge all defaulting ratepayers an additional 10 per cent as provided by the Rating Act. Accounts amounting to £305 2s lOd having been passed for payment the i Council adjourned.
