The inter-colonial cricket match commenced to-day- The New South Wales team made, with fine batting, a score of 223 in the first innings, the top scores being - Callaway 86, Furness (not out) 43, Prior 26, Norman 27. In their first innings Auckland have six wickets down for 112, the top scores 1 being — Ohlson (not out) 21, Wynyard 20, Hay 17, Payst 11, Clayton 10. 1 New South Wales played one man short — Poidevin, who was sick. Adelaide, January 8. The Selection Committee has selected the following definitely to form part of the Australian team for England: — Bruce, Darling, G. Giffen, Gregory, H. Trott, and Iredale. On Saturday next a match will be played at Birmingham between the Feilding and Birmingharo|Cricket Clubs, 1 and Sandon will play a match with Pohangina, at Feilding, on the same day.
