Judge Windeyer.
■»" The Sydney papers eulogise Judge Windeyer. The Telegraph saya he did his duty with an emphasis which sometimes was mistaken for animus and stirred the community to resentment. Never, however, did his character show to better advantage than when with dignified impassiveness he sustained the gusts of feeling excited, as he knew by imperfect knowledge of the facts. While still maintaining that Judge Windeyer did the right thing in a wrong way in the Dean case, the Telegraph says he bore the brunt of the severest criticism with* out a word and trusted to events to vindicate his action, and if they did not quite justify his action they showed him to be right.
