A New Lighthouse.

Some time ago the Governments of ; some of the Austrasiah Colonies and New Zealand were iri communication with xegardtptheerecti6nofalighthouße on one ■ Of the islands lying to the south of New Zealand, but owing to the depression in Victoria that colony was unabie to see its way' to contribute toward the cost. With improvement of affairs these negotiations have been renewed, and by the Hinemoa, which leaves for Auckland and Snares Island towards the end of the month, Mr Hales of the Public Works Department, and Captafo Allman, nautical adviser of tho Government will proceed to select a suitable site for a lighthouse, the cost to be borne by the Colonies interested. ■■ittm
