(Per Pkess Association). Auckland, Dec 28. Sailed — Mariposa, for 'Frisco. Christchukch, Dec. 28. The ship Hollenwood, with a cargo of coal, Newcastle to San Francisco, arrived off the Heads this morning with the coal heated, and signalled for a Lloyd's surveyor. Captain Willis, who represents Lloyd's went out, and the ship was brought inside the Heads. She is the largest sailing vessel which has ever visited Lyttelton, 2,606 tons. Masterton, Dec. 12. Mr T. Hutchison, S.M , chairman of the Masterton Licensing Bench, has refused to grant a license to the Wairarapa Caledonian Society for the selling of liquor at the annual gathering on New Year's Day. The sports have been held for about 20 years, and a license has never before been refused. Mr Hogg M.H.R , is in communication with tbe Premier and Minister of Justice on the subject. ____^
