In connection with the alleged salting of tbo Angipena iniue, a miner named Rogers was charged with fraudulently representing to the promoters that certain stone at the mint! contained gold. The prosecution undertook to prove that Rogers, assisted by the man Fitzpatrick, systematically planted tbo gold in the shaft for tbe purpose of deluding the purchasers into the belief that the reef would yield from 2oz to the ton whereas it was valueless.
