Anstralian Wool Sales.
(Per Press Association.) Sydney, December 22. The wool sales of the year closed with a firm market. There was good competition. The prices reached the highest figure for twelve months. Greasy crossbreds sold at lOJd, fd more than paid for the same wool previously this season. All round prices aro distinctly above tbose of twelve months ago. Throughout the sales Continental buyers appropriated the lion's share of purchases, but most bright showy sorts of greasy fleece were taken for America. Crossbreds generaUy were taken for the English market. The total number of bales offered during the series was 336,000, an increase of 1600 upon the corresponding period last year, of which were sold 304,---800, an increase of 34,000. PubUo sales wiU be resumed on January 6th. Melboubne, December 22. At the winding-up wool sales of the year, competition, though brisk and vigorous, was hardly so well sustained throughout. Crossbreds were irregular and hardly reached previous values. Greasy, in strong demand, sold at Is ld. A parcel of superior lambs scoured bronght ls 3d. Speaking generaUy, the market closes in a very firm satisfactory condition. The total sales since the commencement of the season were 271,---500 bales, compared with 249,700 to the end of last- year. New Year's sales open about Bth January. Adelaide, December 22. The season's wool sales have olosed. There was a good attendance, and bidding higher than at previous sale. The total offerings of the various sales were 88,000 bales and 75,200 were sold compared with 58,200 for the same period last year. Both with regard to the increase in the quantity and prices obtained the series is considered highly satisfactory.
