Cricket News.
A match was played at Colyton on Saturday iast between teams representing the Birmingham and Pohangina Clubs. Pohancina made 39 in their first innings and 65 in their second. Birmingham put tagtnhsr 68 runs in their first innings and 21 in tlieir second tor the loss of cix wickets when stumps were drawn. It is said the Sandon Club did not notify the Colyton Club of their intention to forfeit; and consequently the representatives of the latter Club had a trip to Feilding for nothing. Tho Manawatu Cricket Association met at the Feilding Hotel on Saturday eveuing last, the principal business being to select a team to visit Hawkes' Bay. The following delegates were present : — Messrs D Entwisle (Colyton club), W. Hedges (Birmingham), — Benson (Feilmg), J. Coombe (Carnarvon), and A. G. Carty (Palmerston North), and A. H. Tompkins (secretary). Mr Carty was voted to the chair. Correspondence was read to tbe effect that matches could be arranged with Napier for December 28th, Coanty on tbe 30th, and Hawkes' Bay, at Hastings, on the 31st instant, and that a Pahiatua team would meet the Manawatu team at Woodville on the return journey. It was decided that the following players should constitute the team:— W. T. Grant, B. H. Wilson, F. H. Cooke, S. Smith, A. H. Tompkins, W. Entwisle, C. A. J. Levett, S. Roberts, F. Barlow, H. Stewart, J. Johnston, J. Entwisle. It was decided that final arrangements for the trip be left to the Secretary aud Treasurer. Resolved that the Sandon club, who for* feited the match against Colyton, be asked to pay the charge of 10s 6d incurred for preparing the ground for the match. Resolved, that the Secretary and Treasurer be authorised to open an account at the Bank of Australasia. The Manawatn team will leave for Napier on the 27th instaut, and it is expected that all those selected will go.
