Volunteer Items.
(Per Press Association.) Wellington, December 19, The following Volunteer Corps have been formed into one battalion under the designation of Wellington Battalion Infantry : — Rangitikei Royal Rifles, Marton; Wellington City and Guards, Wanganui, Taranaki, Napier, Palmerston North, Manchester and Hastings Rifles, with the Wanganui and Napier Navals acting as infantry for the time being. Major William Wood is ap* pointed to the command with the rank of Lieut Colonel, and Captain J. P. Watt, of Wanganui. as Adjutant.
