Organ RecitaL
t o-r— — ; 'As there is some hope that the Bevd. i Father Patterson may be induced to , give an organ recital in Feilding similar to that given in Wanganni on a recent .„ i date, we quote the following from fhl» ; report of the Wanganni Chronicle to give t an idea of the excellence of the perform* ' : ance :— The organ recital at St Mary's Church was iargely attended the name of Father Pattersbfeds a musician being r an attraction in itself. Those present v _, were not disappointed lnS^beir expectations and at the end of theperformance expressed their high appreciation of what they had heard. The " Marche Ecclesfastique " (Charles Vincent) was the first number. This piece is a very fine bold march, and though from a popular point of view rather classical must have been much appreciated by thosepresent. Immediately after the march the Rev Father Patterson modulated into Mozart's No. I " Agnus" a composition of exquisite beauty, and which was beautifully sung by Mrs Lloyd. The next number was that masterly work of Bach "St Anne's Fugue," which all organists recognise as next to the " Lion " fugue in G minor. . . . No. 5 item was a fantasia in E minor composed by the Rev Father Patterson specially for the occasion, and proved veritably a treat. This was followed by the Rev. Sir Frederick Ouseley's march entitled " The Martyrdom of St Polycarp " which was much appreciated, its rendering being all that could be desired. . . The programme was brought to a close by a> march in A composed by the Rev Father Patterson, and proved an appropriate ending to an excellent recital.
