Reeves, the newly appointed member of the Legislative Conncil, who is in Wettiagcoa ia coanecaon with the Midland railway case, received upwards of 130 telegrams congratulating him on the appointment. Dunedtn. Dec. 15. Search parties out, to day discovered the body of Joseph Robertson, who was lost in the bush and became exhausted on the way into town from the Silver Peak district. To day it is being brought into town. Robertson was 60 Years of age, and leaves a wife and grown up family. Auckland, Dec. 14. The following team has been chosen to represent Auckland at the Championship Meeting at Christchurch : — Jones (sprints) M. O'Connor and Davis (one and three miles), Creamer (one and three mile walks], Roberts and Mtirtin (hurdles), Pilkington (bicycle). McEean will also probably go for the half-mile, but Brady and Beere cannot obtain leave. New Plymouth, This Day. George Edward Duncan an old settler here was found drowned in the Recreation Ground lake about noon to-day. He was in town during tbe morning apparently in his usual health. Supposed cause is melancholia.
