Pemberton Notes.
(from a correspondent.) The long-talked-of Cricketers' Ball was held in Goodwin's Hall on Friday, 6th instant. The roads were in too bad a state to allow outsiders to come. In fact our main road is still in such a state that Mr Daw will net be able to take his coach through to Rangiwahia before the New Year. There were about twenty couples present. The refreshments, which were provided by the settlers, were good and plentiful. The floor was too good for a number of the dancers. The music, which was very satisfactory, was provided by Messrs Fanthorpe (violin), F. Barlow (flute and piccolo), W. Barlow (clarionet), W. Chunn (piano). Mr F. Say well, as Master of Ceremonies, carried out his part very well. The hall was well decorated with ferns and flowers. Of the fancy dresses Miss Bielski as " Butterfly " looked the best. Mr T. Moffatt as a Maori looked very well indeed.
