Campbelltown Notes.

(From our own correspondent.) Shearing operations are being grently retarded by the showery weather. In some of the sheds the shearers have been shearing for two months, where only a fortnight's work existed. It ia generally supposed that a deal of damp wool will be placed in the markets, as the farmers, being eager to place their wool while good prices obtain, have had to shear when the wool has not been thoroughly dry. The hay crop seems to have been a failure here. Beautiful fields of grass have been cut, but the showery weather prevents the drying process, hence a good deal of it is being spoiled. It is hoped, however, that the weather will soon take up, or else the dairy cowa will suffer trouble next winter. The members of the Excelsior Lodge held an enjoyable meeting in the Temperance Hall last evening. The item on the programme was a " Brothers' Surprise." After the routine business had been transacted in the sight of the sisters a table was laid, on which was placed a jug of fresh cream, sugar, and three gallons of beautiful strawberries. Such a surprise has been rarely witnessed, and the aisters had a really good feast, after which the brothers did full justice to the large surplus that was left. Sister V. C. Banson thanked the brothers heartily on behalf of the sisters, and expressed thankfulness at the intereet being maintained in the Lodge. It was decided to hold the anniversary picnic at Mr Hanson's on the 22nd of January.
