THE BOROUGH ELECTION.
TO THE EDITOR OF THE STAB. Sia,— As a cpntstant subscriber for over three years, paying ta advance, and ; as a ratepayer who pay s his ; rates, I think I am entitled to have a say with reference to the prospective CoundUbrs. ' You are always harping on water sup^ply. (Have you not water enough— if yon have patronised onr local tinsmiths and well sinkers?) and lighting, like; London, this little scattered township, and you also want drainage, while you want the rates reduced. This is not, to my mind consistent, even although I may be called an old fogy for saying so. I agree that the prospective Councillors should have a talk with the ratepayers , and exchange opinions on maJdncr and ■ keeping streets in repair. For instance, we want five or six chains of gravelling done in West street. I advise the candidates to call a meeting in Manchester Square, which would save them expense - -• and use the Band Pavilion for a pulpit . from which each could preach for say ten minutes, and answer a few questions. I am etc. 6. Martin.
